EMPTY BOWLS |
Catholic Outreach has one major fund raiser each year on the 2nd Saturday of October to benefit the Soup Kitchen. The concept of Empty Bowls was brought to our valley by the late Ginger Rice. Each year potters craft and donate soup bowls. Restaurants donate gourmet soups. Patrons who come to the event can pick out a bowl from the nearly 900 on display. Then they enter the dining room and enjoy soup, rolls, beverages and desserts, all donated by the local vendors. The patrons take their bowls home to place on a shelf to remind them that there are people who go hungry in our valley. |
Friends of Catholic Outreach have planned and run the entire event for the past eleven years. Planning begins in June and cumulates in early October. Empty Bowls is held at the Soup Kitchen, 245 S. 1st Street, between the hours of 11:00 A.M. and 1:30 P.M. |
