  • Residents of St. Benedict Place joined Sister Karen Bland and staff from Grand Valley Catholic Outreach on June 17th for its annual "No Fences" garden blessing.  The garden was started by a close-knit community of residents of both St. Benedict and St. Martin supportive housing complexes.  Residents have taken ownership of the garden, growing both produce and flowers.  Father Henry Wertin of St. Joseph Catholic Church performed the blessing.  The celebration also served as the 8th anniversary of the opening of St. Benedict Place.  St. Benedict opened in 2008 to provide apartments to chronically-homeless community members.
  • Grand Valley Catholic Outreach remembers former board member and long-time Soup Kitchen volunteer Andy Hutmacher. Andy served on our board from 2006 to 2012 and spearheaded our Empty Bowls fundraiser for 20 years. Andy was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
  • Grand Valley Catholic Outreach would like to thank all of the attendees at the 20th Annual Empty Bowls fundraiser for making it a resounding success on October 10th. This event helps provide nutritional meals to community members in need. The Soup Kitchen serves an average of 275 meals each day.
  • Enterprise Zone Certificates:Beginning in 2015, Catholic Outreach will be asking you to provide additional information if you wish to receive an Enterprise Zone (EZ) Certificate. The State will no longer issue EZ Certificates without the last four digits of the donor's Social Security number or State Tax ID number.
  • We held our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on April 28th. We are truly grateful for our dedicated volunteers. Without them, we would not be able to maintain the smooth operation of our Day Center, Soup Kitchen, Financial Aid Department, Clothing Bank, or Food Pantry.
