NOVEMBER
- We are nearing the completion of construction for St. Martin Place and will open doors in December. St. Martin Place provides supportive housing to 15 formerly homeless veterans.
- LEAP will begin on November 1, 2011. All clients with a heat utility bill should go to the LEAP offices (Mesa County Department of Human Services building, 510 29 1/2 Rd) for an application. LEAP has set new income figures to determine eligibility. For an income audit, come to Catholic Outreach Monday - Friday during the hours: 9-Noon. Questions about LEAP should be directed to the MCDHS hotline at 244-8400.
- The 16th Annual Empty Bowls Event was a success again this year with over 900 people showing their support. A hearty thank you to the area potters, restaurants, and businesses that made this fundraiser possible through their donations of bowls, soup, food, sponsorships and media coverage.
- Many thanks to the City of Grand Junction and Simplicity Solar for their combined efforts in repairing the roof and the placement of solar panels.
- Commodities are at a long-term low so any donations of can goods, produce or meat is especially welcome at the Soup Kitchen and the Food Pantry.
